Municipal House

The Municipal House, a national heritage building, is one of the most important Art-Nouveau buildings in Prague. It stands in the very centre of the city.

The leading Czech painters and sculptors of the time shared in the decoration of the Municipal House. Amongst the most impressive of the interiors is the circular Mayor's Hall, whose decorations are all the work of Alfons Mucha. The monumental space of the Smetana Hall, a concert hall for 1,200 people with a unique organ from 1912.

Since its very beginnings, the Municipal House has been a multi-functional building. Its halls and parlours have been used for congresses, conferences, concerts, balls, receptions and fashion shows, and these same halls are open to the wider public on one our guided tours. Thanks to its exceptional atmosphere, originality and, at the same time, modern technical equipment, the Municipal House can meet even the most challenging demands which may be made by the organizers of prestigious events.

Among the many important institutions and companies which have found the Municipal House a suitable environment for their meetings and events have been NATO, the International Olympic Committee, UEFA, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, MasterCard and McDonald's. The Municipal House was also the venue for the Summit of European Regions and Cities, as well as many social and cultural events organized in connection with the Czech presidency of the EU.
